On January 16 and 17 Nuclear Security Center of Excellence (NSCOE) conducts training on Basics of Radiation Detection for the Tribonys Frontier Station officers involved into radiation detection activities a the Stasylai Railway Border Crossing Point (BCP) of the State Border Guard Service (SBGS). Two groups of almost 25 people from this BCP are involved in the Training on each day.
The Radiation Detection Basics training program consists of presentations on: importance of radiation detection at the border, nuclear security threats, SBGS procedures of radiation detection, methodology of detection of ionizing radiation, samples of documents, licenses and provisional permits, certificates issued by medical institutions. The main activity of the event was a practical training, where participants developed skills working with the handheld and processing data.
Participants also work with the central alarm station software practicing alarms interpretation and management.
