On March 5–7, 2019 the Nuclear Security Centre of Excellence (NSCOE) specialists conducted workshop for training on the usage for Dignitaries Protection Department personnel involved into radiation detection.

The Mobile Detection System (MDS) is an effective tool to detect illicit trafficking of nuclear and radioactive materials as well as to control and ensure the compliance with radiation safety requirements by carriers and enterprises while shipping commodities containing excessive radiation dose rate. The MDS has been used by Dignitaries Protection Department and some other competent authorities in Lithuania as an integrated part of security screening performed by the law enforcement, along with the explosives and other hazards detection and assessment. During the practical exercises the participants continued developing and enhancing their skills utilizing radiation detection equipment, collecting and managing incidents data and practicing with MDS in the real environment.
