On October 7-8 2019, the Head of NSCOE Dinara Neimontaitė participated in a Technical Meeting “Development of Human Resources in Nuclear Security” organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Austria. The meeting was attended by 52 participants from 30 countries worldwide.

The objectives of the technical meeting were:

– sharing national expertise in human resource development in the Member States (including needs analysis, planning and curriculum development);

– discuss lessons learned, challenges and achievements;

– discuss needs for further support and ways of effective cooperation.

The first day of the meeting included presentations on Human Resources, Education and Training Need Analysis, Planning, Interagency Coordination, and Nuclear Security Training Priorities,  challenges and good practices were shared.

The second day included discussion sessions on the topics presented on the first day, the real challenges, their underlying causes and the search for possible solutions. Short IAEA recommendations were also presented.

During such meetings, NSCOE representatives have an excellent opportunity to share the best Lithuanian experience in the training and development of nuclear security training, as well as discuss opportunities and potential challenges in developing such training regionally, internationally.
